Description

Gymnostoma rumphianum is a slow-growing, slender evergreen tree that grows up to 15 m tall. It has needle-like twigswith many lateral branches,giving it a soft, bushy appearance. The leaves aretiny and scale-like. The flowers are small and borne on a spike. The fruit is around, woodycone. It grows in tropical and subtropical climates in forests andalong seashores.

The wood of Gymnostoma rumphianum is sometimes used by local people for construction and furniture. It is also sometimes planted as an ornamental tree.
